Frequently Asked Questions
Why re-home bears?
We’re on a mission to reduce the 26.8 million toys thrown away in Australia each year by rescuing, refreshing, and rehoming plush teddies.
With most plushies only loved for around three months, we give them a second chance at love while promoting sustainability. Nearly two-thirds of Australians care about eco-friendly toys, we’re here to meet that need.
Our goals:
- Be Australia’s leading plush teddy rehoming agency
- Reduce landfill waste from discarded toys
- Teach kids to value what they own and resist fast consumerism
- Support eco-friendly production and community involvement
Where do your bears come from?
Our bears come from two main sources: generous donations of unwanted plush toys from individuals, and partnerships with charities that receive more teddies than they can re-home. By giving these bears a second chance, we save them from ending up in landfill and help reduce toy waste in Australia.
How are your bears cleaned?
All our bears go through a thorough cleaning process. They're machine washed, air dried, gently brushed, and carefully mended if they have any holes. We finish with a little dash of love, like a fresh ribbon or small touch, to get them looking their best and ready to find a new home.
How do you set the price for your bears?
While our bears are second-hand, a lot of love and effort goes into giving them a second chance. Each bear is thoroughly cleaned, mended, and refreshed, plus, there’s a whole support system behind the scenes, from collection and drop-offs to logistics, marketing, our website, and shipping.
Our prices are set to cover these costs and reflect the true value of each plushie. They're every bit as special as new toys you'd find in a store. By pricing them fairly, we’re also helping shift the perception that second-hand means second-best, these bears aren’t trash, they’re treasures with stories, heart, and purpose.
Are your bears child safe?
We take great care in preparing every bear for its new home. Each one is thoroughly cleaned, checked for damage, and inspected to ensure features like eyes and attachments are secure. However, because our bears have lived previous lives and may have some wear and tear, we cannot guarantee their long-term durability or safety for very young children.
That said, your bear has been lovingly refreshed with the utmost attention to quality and care. While we recommend supervising play for little ones, you can feel confident knowing we’ve done our very best to ensure each teddy is in the best condition possible for their next adventure.
